The Creating Buzz Showcase - Heavy Delima

keeweeflavour:

i saw this on facebook and it instantly irritated me. i told my friend about it and she agreed. then we had a good rant. and now i’m going to tell you why:
this whole “independent black woman” thing, i believe is a hoax that is meant to and has succeeded in dehumanizing both black women and men. the statement “i don’t need a man” can basically be translated to “i don’t need a counterpart, i don’t need a partner, i don’t need love”. this isn’t true. it isn’t true of anyone. yet the idea of black women not needing love has become a glorified one, to the point that society wants us to believe we are actually stronger and better off without our male counterparts.
Even beyond the relationship aspect, this statement sells black men short in every aspect…as father’s, brothers, cousins…it sells them short as just basic functioning members of society. it dehumanizes them…makes them seem worthless. and if their female counterparts believe they’re worthless, why should anyone else believe anything different?
if you wanna call me conspiracy sister, go ahead! lol but as someone who basically grew up in private education, i don’t find it a surprise how black men are INTENTIONALLY not present. the ratio of black females to black males in my highschool for example was probably about 70/30. And the ones that were “selected” to attend, either lacked understanding of culture (both theirs and others) from the get go or had the understanding weaned out of them.
as you can probably tell, i could go on…and on, but i’m gonna cut this short right cheare.
